Connections of the tough Irish middle-distance filly Banimpire may look for quick compensation for her
short-head defeat by Blue Bunting in Sunday's Darley Irish Oaks by contesting another top grade affair, the
Group 1 Nassau Stakes at Glorious Goodwood at the end of the month, writes Elliot Slater.

Banimpire has been a tremendous standard bearer for the Jim Bolger yard this term and appears to be
improving with every outing and anyone following the
Glorious
Goodwood betting odds should remember this. It looked for all the world as though she had the Irish
Oaks in the bag after taking up the running two from home, but in the end she only narrowly to resist the
determined late effort of the Frankie Dettori-ridden 1000 Guineas winner Blue Bunting, who got up in the
very last stride to break the heart of the gallant Irish filly.
Speaking the morning after his narrow defeat, Bolger suggested that if the daughter of Holy Roman Emperor
recovers sufficiently she may well be asked to try and go one better at Goodwood on July 30 where she may
could take on Blue Bunting again, together with the high class older performers Snow Fairy, Midday, and
Crystal Capella. Those searching for

Banimpire rattled up a quick hat-trick of successes at the start of this term, winning twice in Group 3
company in taking the Ballysax Stakes at Leopardstown and the Blue Wind Stakes at Naas in May. After
finishing a respectable fifth to Misty For Me in the Irish 1000 Guineas she returned to winning ways in June
at Cork, taking the Group 3 Noblesse Stakes, then followed up in tremendous fashion when getting the better
of a serious battle with Field of Miracles to win Royal Ascot's Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes.
A filly who stays and is thoroughly genuine, Banimpire would by no means be out of place in the Goodwood
line-up and looks sure to give a good account of herself. |
