There are certain times of the year that are dry
seasons like summertime in most of the United States of America.
During these times of the year the horse race track condition is
mostly dry and firm so it is not a significant factor in the race.
A soft track,
like after a rainy period, is much more difficult for the horse
especially if the horse has been running on a firm track in the past
and has gotten use to running on that type of track.
A track is referred to as being
a 'heavy' track if it is
extremely soft or waterlogged. This is a
step softer than a 'soft' track. Placing bets on horses with a
heavy track can be extremely unpredictable and is anything but a
safe or conservative bet.
There are some skilled punters that successfully
bet on this type of track condition alone as the skilled punter
would, if familiar with the horses in the race, know which horses
this type of track condition would favor. It could be an
opportunity for a high paying long shot bet.
Unless you are extremely skilled and advanced
horse better your best bet is to stay away when the track is heavy.
A good rule of thumb for horse
racing as it relates to track condition is:
- If the track is dry (fast) -
safest bet
- Track is soft in the A.M. but
does not rain all day (soft) - medium risk
- Track is heavy (very soft) -
high risk
Unless you are very experienced
stick with dry and firm track condition. |
